In the 33rd game of the ICC World Cup, India secured their spot in the semi-finals by triumphing over Sri Lanka with an impressive lead of 302 runs in a one-sided showdown.
Kaushal Mendes, the captain of Sri Lanka, emerged victorious in the coin toss and extended the invitation to Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, to take the first strike in the 33rd match of the World Cup, held at the Wakhande Stadium in Mumbai.
India amassed a formidable total of 357 runs, losing 8 wickets within the stipulated 50 overs. Shibman Gill contributed a noteworthy 92, while Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer posted 88 and 82 runs respectively.
In pursuit of India’s target of 358 runs, the Sri Lankan batting order crumbled like a house of cards, managing to amass a mere 55 runs.

World Cup Semi-final Spot
A massive victory of 302 runs, India advanced to the semi-finals of the World Cup. Rohit’s XI achieved the distinction of being the initial team to reach this stage.
The Indian squad remains undefeated in the tournament up to this point. India has participated in 7 matches, emerging victorious in every single one, whereas Sri Lanka has secured triumph in only 2 out of their 7 matches.
The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Shibman Gill kicked off the innings for India, but the openers of the undefeated squad of the tournament couldn’t establish a substantial partnership for the Indian team against the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Sri Lankan bowler Madhushanka dismissed Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the initial over, sending him back to the pavilion with just 4 runs. Following the loss of one wicket, a splendid alliance of 189 runs was forged between Virat Kohli and Shibman Gill.
India’s second wicket fell with Shibman Gill departing at 193 runs, when Madushanka successfully caught Gill at 92 runs. Subsequently, Madushanka himself dispatched Virat Kohli to the pavilion at 88 runs.
In addition, Shreyas Iyer delivered an outstanding performance, amassing 82 runs from 56 balls. KL Rahul contributed 21, Surya Kumar 12, Jadeja 35, and Mohammad Shami was dismissed after scoring 2 runs.
The Indian squad achieved a total of 357 runs, losing 8 wickets within the allocated 50 overs.
In Sri Lanka’s innings, Dilshan Madhushanka got rid of 5 players, while Chimera managed to secure a single wicket.

In pursuit of India’s goal of 358 runs, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup proved to be a weak defense, none of the batsmen could stand against the formidable bowling of the Indian bowlers.
Chasing 358 runs, the Sri Lankan team crumbled for 55 runs in 19.4 overs, Kasan Rajitha scored 14 runs and Angelo Mathews scored 12 runs, Madhushanka was dismissed for 5 runs.
5 Sri Lankan players were out for zero. Apart from this, Kaushal Mendes and Cherith Asalinka scored one run each.
On behalf of India, Mohammad Shami dismissed 5 players by giving 18 runs while Mohammad Siraj took 3 wickets for 16 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.
