Pakistan vs India Match Under Review for Rescheduling
DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC) is poised to declare the updated timetable for the eagerly-awaited ODI World Cup encounter involving Pakistan and India today (Monday).
Pakistan vs India Match Under Review for Rescheduling-The council is yet to issue an official statement. As per India media, the game will be played on October 14, a day earlier than originally planned.India had requested the ICC to change the schedule for the match between the two teams due to Navratri – an annual Hindu festival.
Reports indicate that the Navratri festival will be celebrated across Gujarat, and security agencies advised the Indian cricket board to reschedule the high-octane clash.
A senior official of Board of Control for Cricket in India informed an Indian publication that the board is exploring all options, and a decision is expected soon. He pointed out a massive influx of fans in Ahmedabad for the match but mentioned that the match date cannot be changed due to the festivity. Both sides will face each other for the eighth time in an ODI format, with the last encounter between the two teams held four years ago when Men in Blue won by 89 runs.
