Workers Fatally Hit by Train in Italy
Workers Fatally Hit by Train in Italy-Following a collision at a station in Italy, at least five individuals lost their lives. The victims, whose ages ranged from 22 to 52, were engaged in track replacement work near Turin. This tragic incident occurred as they were on duty along the Turin-Milan route. An unoccupied passenger train passed through Brandizzo station at a reportedly high speed of 160km/h (100mph).
Italian media has reported that an investigation is already in progress, as stated by Mayor Paolo Bodoni. Two workers emerged from the incident without harm and were subsequently taken to a medical facility for observation. The train operator received on-site treatment for shock but was eventually discharged. Authorities plan to interview him later regarding the accident.
Italian railway network (RFI), in an official statement, expressed profound grief for the occurrence and extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Mayor Bodoni characterized the event as both “chilling” and an “immense tragedy.”

Reports from Italy outlined that the workers were actively replacing approximately 10 meters of track when the unmanned train, carrying around a dozen carriages, sped through Brandizzo station. The impact resulted in some victims being dragged along the track for several hundred meters.
While awaiting the investigation’s results, the mayor of Brandizzo, a small town situated northeast of Turin, noted that the possibility of a communication error cannot be discounted.
