Madrid: Spain formally recognized Palestine as an independent state.
Spain Recognized Palestine
According to foreign media reports, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has said in a statement that the Cabinet approved the recognition of Palestine as an independent state.
Socialist leader Pedro Sánchez said that there is no example of atrocities on Palestinians, recognition of Palestine as a state is a historical moment, peace is the fundamental right of Palestinians and the establishment of peace in Palestine is the common responsibility of all.
It should be noted that despite Israel’s angry reaction, today Spain as well as Ireland and Norway will officially announce the recognition of the Palestinian state.
Relations between the European Union and Israel have been strained by Spain and Ireland’s announcement that they would recognize Palestine as an independent state, but Madrid has insisted that the EU continues to fight deadly attacks in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Action should be taken against Israel on the attacks.
On the other hand, Norway, which is not a member of the European Union but often aligns its foreign policy with the EU, handed over diplomatic papers to the Palestinian government over the weekend before formally recognizing the Palestinian state.
