Smart Lockdown is implemented in 10 districts of Punjab, including Lahore, to combat the escalating smog crisis.
Smart Lockdown in Punjab
A smart lockdown has been imposed in the cities of Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin during which movement has been restricted.
Apart from this, educational institutions were closed in Lahore due to air pollution, while citizens in Kasur defied the Punjab government’s smart lockdown orders.
In Hafizabad, the district administration has taken action under the Anti-Smog Act and so far more than 1300 smog-emitting vehicles and motorcycle rickshaws have been stopped and the route permits of more than 50 vehicles have been cancelled.

It should be noted that the Punjab government had issued orders to keep all public and private schools, colleges, universities closed in 10 districts of the province, while markets, shops, gyms, cinemas and offices will be allowed to open after 3 o’clock.
