SKARDU – Celebrating a notable achievement, the first global flight commencing from Dubai landed at Skardu Airport on Monday.
Skardu Airport Welcomes First International Flight
Recognized as flight EK-234, the plane departed from Dubai at 4:15am, serving 80 travelers. It completed its trip by safely arriving at Skardu International Airport following a duration of four and a half hours.
The plane received a ceremonial water cannon salute as it reached the airfield, joined by offering floral arrangements to the travelers, marking the observance of this momentous event.
The head official of Gilgit-Baltistan turned to Twitter and disseminated the information. The CS posted the update with a remark, “A historic occasion in progress! The initial global flight touching down securely in Skardu is unquestionably a historic juncture.
It initiates fresh prospects for voyaging and links Skardu with the globe’s remainder. A remarkable stride towards fostering tourism and enriching the area’s connectivity.”

Individually, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, conveyed happiness as the inaugural global flight to Skardu departed from Dubai on August 14, marking Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day.

In a communication, Tirmizi urged passengers to seize and exchange the magnificence of Pakistan via visual narratives and also commended the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the administration of Gilgit-Baltistan for their roles in transforming “this momentous flight into a real achievement”.

In the previous month, a minimum of 12 flights using Airbus A320 aircraft effectively linked Skardu with prominent urban centers all over Pakistan, indicating a notable increase in tourism activity.
