On Monday, the interim administration of Sindh declared a public holiday on September 1st (Friday) to commemorate the Urs festivities of the Sufi sage Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
As per an official statement released by the regional interim government, all workplaces, academic establishments, independent and partially independent organizations, corporations, and community assemblies under the jurisdiction of the Sindh government, excluding vital services, will be non-operational on Friday.

Sindh Government Declares Sep 1 a Holiday
The message announces that, “Sindh’s administration proclaims the 14th of Safar 1445 (A.H) September 1, 2023, as an official day off across the Sindh region on account of the urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA). This applies to all bureaus, self-governing, partially self-governing institutions, enterprises, and community assemblies supervised by the Sindh administration, excluding vital services.”
The annual commemoration of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s urs starts annually on the 14th day of Safar (the second month of the Hijra calendar) and extends for a duration of three days. As indicated by accounts, the three-day observance of the urs will commence with poetry marathons, literary symposiums, and additional events.
