Previously, there were indications of Shakib-ul-Hasan contemplating involvement in the previous elections, but he deemed it unsuitable to engage in politics at that juncture.
Conversely, Bahauddin Naseem, the Joint Secretary General of the Awami League, informed the news agency AFP that Shakib acquired the nomination form to run for elections in three constituencies from the party on Saturday.
Extending a warm welcome to the versatile player, Naseem expressed that Shakib is a widely admired figure, particularly among the youth in the country.
As per reports from international media, Shakib’s nomination needs approval from the ruling party’s parliamentary board, led by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
