Shakib Al Hasan’s Candid Critique of Tamim Iqbal
The captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, Shakib Al Hasan, took his fellow cricketer Tamim Iqbal, who did not make it to the World Cup squad due to injury.
According to cricket website Cricinfo, Shakib Al Hasan has criticized Tamim Iqbal ahead of the World Cup, calling him ‘childish’ and saying that he is not a ‘team man’. Talking about this, Shakib-ul-Hasan said that ‘I am sure someone (Tamim) must have said that, whoever said that, he thought about the team’. The Bangladeshi captain said that there are many things that go into making a team combination for a match, so if someone said that to Tamim, was it wrong?
Pointing at Tamim, he said, “I’m just telling anybody that you can do whatever you want, whether it’s the team first or the individual first.” Shakib Al Hasan said Rohit Sharma started his career at No.7. What if he also scored 10,000 runs while opening, if he ever bats at number 3 or 4, will it be a big problem? This is absolutely childish thinking.
The Bangladeshi captain criticized Tamim Iqbal and said that a player should bat in any position for the team, first is the team, it doesn’t matter if you score 100 or 200 runs and the team Lose. What can you do with your personal success? Do you just want to make a name for yourself?

According to Cricinfo, Shakib Al Hasan further said that you are not thinking about the team at all, people don’t understand why Tamim was suggested to play down. The decision was for the team, what’s wrong with that? You are a team man when you agree to such a proposal. If you think only about yourself then you are not a team man, you are playing for individual records, success, fame and name and not for the team.
