Shaheen Afridi did not perform at his peak with the ball in the match against Worcestershire. The opposition team, Nottinghamshire, faced a daunting challenge as Worcestershire managed to post an imposing total of 226/5 in the T20 Vitality Blast tournament on Friday.
During his four-over spell, Afridi conceded 45 runs, resulting in an economy rate of 11.25. He did, however, secure one crucial wicket, dismissing Kashif Ali, who was caught by Steven Mullaney after scoring a mere 11 runs.

Nottinghamshire’s pursuit of the target relied heavily on Alex Hales, who displayed great resilience with a well-constructed innings of 71 runs. Unfortunately, Hales did not receive significant support from his teammates, and eventually fell in the 14th over, leaving Nottinghamshire with a challenging task of requiring 101 runs to win in the remaining six overs.
Despite Afridi’s struggles with the ball, he injected excitement back into the game during Nottinghamshire’s innings. In the 16th over, delivered by Michael Bracewell, Afridi unleashed a phenomenal display of power-hitting, smashing four sixes.

Afridi made a significant impact with the bat, albeit for a short duration, showcasing a cameo of 29 runs from a mere 11 deliveries. His innings consisted of four sixes and a four, demonstrating his powerful hitting abilities. Unfortunately, his time at the crease came to an end when Pat Brown dismissed him, marking a turning point for Nottinghamshire. Following Afridi’s departure, their chances of victory dwindled, and they were eventually bowled out for 170 runs, falling short of Worcestershire’s formidable total.
