In the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to not legalize same-sex marriage in India, a couple of the same gender exchanged vows in front of the court.
Same-Sex Couple Gets Engaged
As per reports from Indian media, a panel of five judges from the Supreme Court declined to grant legal recognition to same-sex unions. Instead, they emphasized that the matter should be addressed through parliamentary legislation.
Following this verdict, a gay couple, deeply affected by the decision, exchanged rings as a symbol of their commitment right in front of the Supreme Court building in New Delhi.
Ananya Kotia, currently pursuing a PhD at the London School of Economics, is now betrothed to her fellow lawyer, Utkarish Saxena, as reported by Indian media sources.

Ananya revealed her betrothal on social media site X and additionally posted her engagement photograph.
Ananya inscribed on the caption of her update that we will return once more to advocate for our entitlements.
