As per British media, the marquess previously held the role of Lord High Chamberlain, a position involving guiding the monarch during significant moments of their reign, including holding the Crown on a cushion. This responsibility was upheld from 1990 until September 2022, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Presently, his role is that of Lord-in-Waiting, akin to a lady-in-waiting for King Carlos III. This position would bring Rose Hanbury back into proximity with the Crown.

Over the past weekend, the Princess of Wales dined at Houghton Hall in Norfolk County, alongside the Marchioness and her spouse. Post-dinner, a suggestion emerged among guests for Kate to attend the festival.
