Preventing Conjunctivitis with Quarantine
Dr. Javed Akram, the interim Health Minister of Punjab, emphasized that conjunctivitis lacks a specific remedy. It can, however, be averted through quarantine measures.
While speaking at a seminar on conjunctivitis hosted by the Mir Khalilur Rahman Society in Lahore, Dr. Javed Akram pointed out that a scarcity of medications for conjunctivitis existed in the market. Eye medications were being illicitly traded at higher prices, which is regrettable, particularly in the case of eye drops where profiteering is evident.
The caretaker health minister reiterated that no unique medicine caters exclusively to conjunctivitis. Instead, its occurrence can be mitigated through quarantine practices.
Dr. Javed Akram expressed that dengue primarily affects children worldwide, and Pakistan stands as the singular nation where adults are also susceptible to dengue. Moreover, dengue tends to afflict men more frequently in Pakistan, with various strains of the virus being prevalent in the country. Finding a cure for dengue remains a formidable challenge.

He went on to mention that political administrations attempted to mislead the public by resorting to dengue spraying. This practice, he argued, led to the development of dengue immunity in mosquitoes. He pointed out that nations successfully managing dengue didn’t rely on such spraying measures.
The custodian health secretary remarked that illnesses are proliferating swiftly across the globe, and the demise of individuals worldwide is not a result of conflicts, but rather the virus must be transmitted from animals to humans.
