ISLAMABAD – Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar presented commendation certificates to the responders of the Battagram chairlift incident on Thursday.
A ceremony was held in recognition of the Pakistan Army’s SSG commandos and local individuals, who participated in the extensive operation, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.
It took approximately 15 hours for Pakistani rescuers to successfully extract seven children and one adult to safety following the suspension of their chairlift in midair above a gorge, at an elevation of 900 feet, due to the snapping of one of the cables in the Allai tehsil of Battagram district in the northern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Shortly following the notification to officials, Pakistan Army soldiers sprang into motion for the purpose of saving the trapped individuals. A pair of military helicopters were additionally sent to the location. One child was lifted to safety by a military helicopter, whereas the remaining stranded individuals were retrieved by specialists in zip lining.

PM Kakar Acknowledges Efforts in Battagram Chairlift Rescue
Addressing the event, the head of government stated that acknowledgment for the rescue mission belonged to the security personnel and community members, as they effectively managed to rescue the entire group of eight individuals stuck in the cable car.
