Will They Join ICC 2023?Amidst the excitement surrounding the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, there remains uncertainty about the participation of the Pakistani team. The country’s cricket board announced on Tuesday that it awaits the government’s approval to send the squad to neighboring India, the host of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, the ICC unveiled the schedule for this thrilling competition, revealing that the clash between Pakistan and India is set to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that obtaining clearance from the Government of Pakistan is a prerequisite for any tour to India, including matches held at various venues.
The PCB is actively coordinating with the government, seeking guidance. Once the board receives an update, it will promptly inform the event authority, ICC. The spokesperson emphasized that this stance aligns with what was conveyed to the ICC a few weeks ago when they shared the draft schedule and sought feedback.
Ten teams will vie for the coveted title across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19. The tournament will commence with an opener and conclude with the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Following a round-robin format, all teams will compete against each other in 45 league matches. The top four teams will then qualify for the semifinals, scheduled to be held on November 15 in Mumbai and November 16 in Kolkata. The semifinals and the final will have reserve days allocated.
