The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has formally communicated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), making a request to reschedule the World Cup 2023 league match between Pakistan and England to a different date.
World Cup 2023 Clash Faces Possible Rescheduling
The proposed date, November 12, coincides with the revered Hindu festival of Kali Puja, which has prompted CAB to seek this alteration.
The decision to ask for a change in the fixture date was driven by concerns raised by the Kolkata police about security management on the day of Kali Puja.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time a World Cup match involving Pakistan has undergone a date change or received a rescheduling appeal. Previously, Pakistan’s highly-anticipated match against India, initially scheduled for October 15, was moved to October 14 to avoid clashing with the commencement of the Hindu festival of Navaratri. This adjustment was made to ensure optimal security provision, as October 15 posed logistical challenges for local law enforcement.
Though the ICC’s revised schedule is yet to be released, reliable sources have informed ESPN cricinfo that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to the revised timing.
To conclude, this particular match is set to take place in Ahmedabad as planned.
