More good news for people in Lahore! The temporary Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, just opened a new flyover in the city. It’s called the Akbar Chowk Flyover and it was finished three months earlier than expected.
The caretaker CM unveiled it with other important government people, like Muhammad Ali Randhawa from the Lahore Development Authority.
It’s important to mention that the flyover was initially planned to be finished in 10 months. However, due to the effective work of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), it was completed in just seven months.
Lahore’s Longest Flyover Open for Traffic
As part of the project, a 2.2-kilometer-long flyover and 10 protected U-turns have been built. During the opening event, CM Naqvi stated that the Akbar Chowk flyover, spanning both sides, is now the longest in Lahore.
The caretaker CM highlighted the significance of the project, emphasizing that the completion of this flyover has created a signal-free passage between Multan Road and Ferozpur Road.

Also, Naqvi stated that they made sure not to cut down any trees while building the flyover. He mentioned that they planted 300 new plants around the flyover, making the area look nicer and helping the environment.
It’s important to note that the Akbar Chowk flyover is the fourth big project finished by the LDA in November. Before this, the CM opened the Bedian Underpass, Shahdara flyovers, and Cavalry underpass.
