Guyana Amazon Warriors, the franchise of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), has made an exciting addition to their squad for the upcoming tournament. They have picked Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub, both promising talents from Pakistan, to join their ranks.
The 11th edition of the CPL is scheduled to take place from August 17 to September 25, and it promises to be a thrilling competition as six teams vie for the coveted title.
In other news, the CPL recently announced that three teams have finalized their fifth overseas player ahead of the tournament. One of those teams is the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who have secured the services of Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris to strengthen their squad.
Saim Ayub rose to prominence during this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), impressing with his batting prowess. He accumulated 341 runs in 12 matches, displaying a strike rate of 165.53 and scoring five half-centuries.
With his impressive domestic record, Saim received his maiden call-up for the Pakistan national team during the T20I series against Afghanistan in March. Opening the innings for Pakistan, he contributed 66 runs in as many matches, including a sensible knock of 49 runs in the final fixture.
Furthermore, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have announced that Rahmanullah Gurbaz will not be available for a portion of this year’s CPL due to international commitments. In his absence, Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris will fill the void and represent the team during that period.
It’s worth noting that Mohammad Haris, a wicketkeeper-batsman, will lead Pakistan Shaheens in the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023. The eight-team tournament is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from July 14 to 23.
The Pakistan Shaheens squad, under Haris’ leadership, was set to depart from Lahore for Sri Lanka via Dubai on Tuesday to participate in the competition. Placed in Group B, they will face India A, Nepal, and UAE A. Their campaign begins on July 14 against Nepal, followed by matches against UAE A on July 17 and India A on July 19.
