The French newspaper claimed that the Lebanese military organization Hezbollah has a network of secret tunnels more advanced than the network established by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which extends to Israel.
Hezbollah’s Modern Tunnels Extending Into Israel
The French newspaper Liberation said in its report that Hezbollah’s secret tunnel network consists of hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and their branches reach Israel and perhaps beyond Syria.
The newspaper cited Israeli researchers and a website as saying that Hezbollah had planned dozens of operations based on an underground network linking Beirut, the Bekaa and southern Lebanon.
The risk of underground tunnels running from Israel’s northern border to the Galilee Hospital has increased in view of Hezbollah’s growing conflict with Israel, the report said.
According to the report, after the administration of the medical center in the Israeli city of Nahariya received a complaint about the sound of drilling, the Israeli army began conducting ground tests to detect the presence of a tunnel connecting Lebanon to the hospital.
The Israeli newspaper Israeli Hum revealed that Israel had excavated more than 40 test sites but failed to detect the presence of the tunnel, ending its fears.
According to the newspaper, geographically, the Galilee Hospital in Nahariya is on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon.
The Jerusalem Post also expressed concern about Hezbollah’s tunnel threat, stating that Hezbollah has extensive experience digging tunnels and now that it has been discovered that Hamas’ tunnels are larger and more extensive than previously thought. If so, isn’t it possible that the threat from Hezbollah’s tunnels is greater than previously thought?

Notably, the region of southern Lebanon is not the same as Gaza, as it consists of rocky hills and valleys, and therefore Israeli estimates do not accept the idea that Hezbollah has managed to dig tunnels up to 10 kilometers deep into Israel.
