In Islamabad, the tax department, FBR, took action against the national airline, PIA.
They blocked all 28 bank accounts of PIA because the airline didn’t pay Rs 2.7 billion in federal taxes. This includes money collected from passengers for tickets.
FBR freezes PIA accounts over tax non-payment
A spokesperson from PIA confirmed that the tax department, FBR, froze the airline’s bank accounts. Additionally, PSO, the fuel supplier for PIA planes, issued a warning.
They want PIA to pay their overdue bill of one and a half billion rupees immediately, or they will stop providing fuel to PIA planes.

Experts in aviation find it unusual that PIA’s accounts are frozen while the European Union agency IASA is conducting an audit.
Sources mention that PIA’s flights to Europe and the UK will resume once the audit is successfully completed.
