Rescue endeavors are in progress to save the trapped youngsters — a group of eight individuals, comprising six school children. They found themselves suspended in the air following a malfunction of a chairlift’s cable in the Allai Tehsil of Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
Emergency Rescue Strategies for Stranded Battagram Cable Car
The available choices are as follows:
Established contact with the deputy inspector general of police in Hazar to determine the status of the rescue operation.
As per the police official’s communication, Pakistan Army helicopters have been dispatched to the location due to the police force’s lack of sufficient proficiency to execute the rescue operation.
On the contrary, Army sources informed that there exist two potential strategies for conducting the rescue operation.
Method involving a bucket:
A helicopter will maintain a higher position relative to the cable car, aiming to minimize any additional disruption to the chairlift. Subsequently, an aircraft will lower a bucket to the chairlift, enabling the stranded individuals to board it individually.
The helicopter will transport the bucket along with the person and cautiously lower it to a nearby pre-designated location.
This approach will be repeated eight times until the culmination of the operation.

Net-based method:
An alternative technique for rescuing those trapped involves deploying a net beneath the suspended chairlift. This arrangement would allow individuals to jump onto the net, ensuring a safe landing.
However, due to the challenging terrain of the area, positioning a net of considerable magnitude is expected to be arduous.
According to the decision regarding the preferred rescue approach has been entrusted to the pilot.
Furthermore, an adept squad from the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) has been summoned to partake in the rescue mission.
An army helicopter has also made its way to the site.
