After the renaming of Twitter to ‘X,’ Elon Musk has stated that the platform will solely offer ‘dark mode,’ essentially depriving users of the choice to switch between various appearance.
Imposing Dark Mode on All of Twitter
Imposing Dark Mode on All of Twitter-Musk shared this update in a Thursday morning post on X. Earlier in the week, the billionaire asked his followers’ feedback on whether the platform’s default color should be changed to black. Out of the more than 1.8 million respondents, a notable 78.4% supported the transition to a black theme.
The Twitter CEO responded with a tweet saying, “This platform will soon only have ‘dark mode, It is better in every way.”
Dark mode, alternatively known as ‘night mode’ on specific devices, represents a display configuration that reduces the intensity of white light produced by a device, displaying gray or white text against a black background. Its purpose is to be employed in the evening or under low lighting conditions, as it enhances the screen’s visibility in darker environments.
“X”, the recently rebranded social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has always showcased a white theme as its default mode. However, in 2016, it officially unveiled a dark mode option and now offers two distinct variations: ‘dim’ and ‘lights out’. The ‘dim’ mode transforms the platform with dark blue hues, while ‘lights out’ presents it in striking black tones.
Musk’s decision to change the platform’s default display, without providing alternative choices, emphasizes his latest endeavor to reshape “X” in line with his vision. The billionaire expressed that this social media platform will serve as a foundational element of his ambitious “everything app”.
