The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the electricity price for Karachi’s citizens by Rs 9.98 per unit.
Electricity is expensive for the citizens of Karachi:
Nepra has issued a notification to increase the price of electricity for K-electric consumers, the electricity has been increased in the context of monthly fuel adjustment for 9 months, and additional charges will be made from June to September from K-electric consumers.
The notification said that additional charges will be made from consumers from June to September 2024, K-electric consumers will be charged Rs 2 68 paise per unit extra in June, and Rs 3 11 paise per unit extra in July.

Similarly, electric consumers will have to pay Rs 3.22 paise per unit extra in August, while in September, electric consumers will be charged Rs 1 per unit extra. In this way, consumers of Karachi will pay 9 rupees 98 paise per unit of electricity.
The Nepra notification further states that the hike will not apply to K Electric’s Lifeline and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations.

It should be noted that K Electric had applied to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for October 2023 to March 2024.
