Electricity Consumers Face Heavy Bills
The cost of electricity has been raised by Rs 1.25 paise per unit for customers nationwide, and this increment was implemented during the third quarter readjustment of 2022-23.
As per the information provided, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has sanctioned the rise in electricity rates by 1 rupee 25 paise per unit for the third quarter adjustment of 2022-23.

According to the Nepra statement, the surge will be implemented on the invoices for July, August, and September 2023, affecting all clients except Lifeline customers, while excluding electricity customers.
Nepra additionally stated that power companies had submitted requests for monthly modifications to Nepra, during which the authority conducted a public hearing on May 24 following the DISCOs’ appeal.

Recalling the events of June 20, it is worth mentioning that CPPA and K-Electronics submitted individual petitions to Nepra, seeking a rise in the electricity cost by Rs 2.5 paise per unit for patrons of government-run power companies and Rs. 1.49 paise per unit for K-Electric customers. Their appeal was made.
