The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has formally declared the Eid holidays for federal ministries and entities. Residents will enjoy a four-day hiatus to commemorate the Islamic festival, and it is anticipated to create a six-day weekend.
Eid Al-Adha Holidays in UAE
As per the Islamic Hijri calendar, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has announced that the holiday will occur from 9 to 12 Dhul Hijjah. The significant day of Arafat, which falls on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, holds immense importance in the Islamic faith. Following Arafat Day, the subsequent three days will commemorate Eid Al-Adha, also referred to as the festival of sacrifice.
The exact dates on the Gregorian calendar for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha holidays will be determined on 18 June. On this day, officials will be observing the crescent moon, which signifies the beginning of a new Islamic month. Based on astronomical calculations, it is anticipated that Arafat Day will occur on 27 June, followed by Eid on the subsequent day, 28 June.

Consequently, it is expected that the holiday will span from Tuesday, 27 June, to Friday, 30 June. Taking into account the usual Saturday-Sunday weekend, this will result in a remarkable six-day break, making it the longest official holiday of the year.
Residents will be required to work on Monday, 26 June, and subsequently, they will have the remainder of the week off to enjoy the holiday. Some employees are even opting to take Monday off, extending the break to a remarkable nine days. Regular work activities will resume on Monday, 3 July.
