Recently, a fresh investigation has unveiled the applications that possess the highest level of access to users’ personal information on iPhones or Android devices.
Research conducted by TRG Data Centers disclosed that Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger are the applications that gain the most data on phones operating on iOS and Android platforms.
The trio of applications requests permission to access 14 distinct categories of user information, including location, browsing history, contacts, photos, and more.
YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instacart top the list of data-intensive iOS applications, with Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger trailing behind. Meanwhile, TikTok and Google occupy the 7th and 8th positions.
Contrastingly, the Facebook Lite application leads in data access on Android devices, securing the fourth spot after Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
Google, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat are placed in the 5th to 8th positions, respectively.

The research discovered that applications on Android require greater data access compared to iOS.
As per the investigators, the findings suggest that Android users need to relinquish more of their data than iOS users.
“The figures regarding the extent of data we grant apps access to,” he remarked, “are astounding.”
“Numerous of our individual particulars are stored by apps that may be exploited by marketing firms and malicious actors for diverse intentions,” he mentioned.
