The authorities in Karachi have issued a ban due to Cyclone Biparjoy, under Section 144, on activities such as fishing, sailing, swimming, and bathing in the seas. This precautionary measure has been implemented due to the potential danger posed by the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) named “Biparjoy.”
Notification of Cyclone Biparjoy: Entry Karachi Beaches Banned
The notification stated that the decision was made with the intention of preventing any undesirable occurrences such as shipwrecks or drownings. In the event of non-compliance with the directive, the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners responsible have been granted the authority to take appropriate action in collaboration with the relevant senior superintendent of police in the city.

Those found in violation will be charged under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), as stated in the notification. Additionally, the Meteorological Office reported that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy, located approximately 910 kilometers south of Karachi, has moved in a northerly direction over the past six hours.
According to weather reports and Cyclone Biparjoy, there is a high probability that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy will continue to intensify as it moves in a north-northeast direction over the next 24 hours. Subsequently, the storm is expected to gradually shift its course to the north-northwest over the following three days.
As the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy is likely to move in a north-northeast direction, the Sindh-Makran coast can expect to experience rain-thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds starting from the night of 13 June or the morning of 14 June.

In its Friday night update, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that the Very Severe Cyclonic Biparjoy Storm over the east-central Arabian Sea has continued to maintain its intensity and has tracked northeastward over the past 12 hours.
According to the night report from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the storm is currently located approximately 1040 km south of Karachi, 1020 km south of Thatta, and 1110 km southeast of Ormara.
Rain-thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected to occur along the Sindh-Makran coast starting from Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. The ferocious winds have the potential to cause damage to structures that are loose or vulnerable.
