Challenged Lahore high court decision in Supreme Court
After the top judge in Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, and other important judges had a meeting with the head of elections, Sikandar Sultan Raja, the Election Commission has made a request to reconsider the decision made by Lahore High Court. This request is expected to be reviewed urgently.
The head of elections, Sikandar Sultan Raja, had a meeting with Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa at the Supreme Court. Judges Sardar Tariq and Ejazul Hassan were also present in the meeting. Additionally, Attorney General Mansoor Usman joined the discussion.
According to insiders, the Chief Election Commissioner visited the Supreme Court at the invitation of the Chief Justice. During the meeting, he updated the judges about the Lahore High Court’s decision.
As per the information, the top judge in Pakistan talked with two experienced judges before meeting the head of the Election Commission. The Chief Justice discussed the Lahore High Court’s decision with these judges. After the discussion, the Attorney General and the Chief Election Commissioner were called in.
The Chief Justice and the most experienced judges are currently at the Supreme Court. According to the sources, a court session is expected to take place soon after the judges’ meeting.
However, some people suggest that the Election Commission may go to the Supreme Court to challenge the Lahore and Islamabad High Courts’ decisions.

They mention that a panel of judges will only be assembled after the Election Commission submits its appeal. The appeal itself is being crafted based on Article 185, which is the provision for challenging High Court decisions.
According to insiders, the Chief Justice and the most experienced judges are currently in the Supreme Court. If the Election Commission lodges an appeal, a bench will be quickly set up to address the matter.
Unnamed sources mentioned that Justice Sardar Tariq and Justice Ijazul Hassan are currently at the Supreme Court because the Chief Justice and two senior judges need to discuss and agree on the formation of benches.
The Secretary of the Election Commission has arrived at the Supreme Court. The Election Commission is contesting the Lahore High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court and has submitted an appeal.
During a media interaction at the Supreme Court, the Election Commission’s Secretary mentioned that he has drafted an appeal against the Lahore High Court’s decision. He intends to file the appeal in the Supreme Court after some time.
He stated that he cannot provide any comments regarding the elections scheduled for February 8.
