Bus Accident on Islamabad-Lahore Motorway
Tragedy struck on a fateful Saturday as a devastating bus accident unfolded on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near the captivating Kallar Kahar in the vibrant province of Punjab. In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the lives of at least 10 individuals were tragically cut short, while an additional 25 people found themselves grappling with injuries, according to the accounts of diligent rescue personnel and the steadfast police force.
As the weight of this somber incident unfolded, Farooq Ahmed, the spokesperson for Rescue 1122, solemnly confirmed the toll to Dawn.com, while adding a grim possibility that the count might unfortunately rise even higher.
In a separate statement, the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) disclosed that based on initial findings, the tragic incident unfolded at the fateful location of Kallar Kahar. It was reported that the unfortunate accident was triggered by a malfunction in the bus’s braking system, as the ill-fated vehicle was en route from Islamabad to Lahore.

Furthermore, the NHMP stated that immediate measures were being taken to transport the injured individuals to a medical facility where they could receive the necessary medical attention and treatment.
The official statement further emphasized the active presence of NHMP personnel at the scene of the tragic accident, diligently involved in the ongoing rescue operations. The dedicated efforts were being closely supervised by DIG (Motorway) Mohammad Yusuf Malik and the sector commander, Commander Nafri.
Back in February, a devastating incident unfolded near the vicinity of Kallar Kahar, claiming the lives of at least 14 individuals from a wedding party. Among the deceased were women and children, their promising futures tragically cut short. Additionally, 64 individuals suffered injuries as a bus plunged into a ravine, causing it to overturn.

In a chain of unfortunate events, the ill-fated bus had collided with two cars and a truck traveling on the opposite track. As per the accounts provided by the police, the wedding party, on their journey back from Islamabad to Lahore, encountered a heart-wrenching incident as their bus tragically veered off the road, seemingly due to a burst tire.
