Birmingham City sacked manager Wayne Rooney on Tuesday after he slipped from sixth to 20th in the table after winning just two of his 15 league games.
Carl Robinson, who was the first team coach, has also been sacked.
A club statement read: “Birmingham City have today parted ways with manager Rooney, and first-team coach, Carl Robinson.
“Despite their best efforts, the expectations that were initially made clear have not been met. The Board therefore feels that a change in management is in the best interest of the football club.”

The former England footballer reacted to the sacking, saying: “The support I have received during my short time with the club and I would like to thank Tom Wigan, Tom Brady and Gary for giving Birmingham City the opportunity to come together.
“Football is a results business – and I know they are not at the level I wanted them to be at. However, time is the most valuable thing a manager needs and I am not sure. 13 weeks was sufficient to monitor the changes that were needed.
I have been involved in professional football since the age of 16, either as a player or manager “Personally, it will take me some time to get over this setback. The next opportunity in my journey as a manager.”
He also wished the football club and its owners the best of luck in “achieving their ambitions”.
Meanwhile, professional Steve Spooner will remain in charge until a permanent successor is found as a development coach.
Rooney, with Birmingham in a promotion play-off spot, has been criticized for his poor run of results, including nine league defeats, leaving the club two places above the drop zone.
The ex-Everton and Manchester United striker departed Derby County following a 21-point deduction and a lack of success during the 2021-22 season after 19 months.
