Appeal in cypher case Judgment reserved
The Islamabad High Court is still deciding on the appeal within the court about the imprisonment trial of the PTI Chairman in the Cypher case.
A two-member bench with Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Thaman Rifat from the Islamabad High Court listened to Imran Khan’s appeal. Salman Akram Raja, the lawyer representing the PTI Chairman, argued that if the government approves a jail trial through the cabinet, the high court should be informed.
He also mentioned that a clear and reasoned order from the judge is necessary for the jail trial process. Even if it’s acknowledged that the trial court judge initiated the process, it didn’t finish properly.
Salman Akram Raja mentioned that the federal cabinet must approve the jail trial. In this situation, there was no approval from the federal cabinet before November 12. The judge needs to issue a judicial order for the jail trial and include findings in it. Currently, there is no such order, which is a fundamental violation in this case.

Imran Khan’s lawyer stated that although the federal cabinet has now granted approval, the essential judicial order is still missing. Even if we assume that the federal cabinet has approved, the previous actions are considered illegal.
After completing the arguments, the court decided to reserve its decision on the appeal. The issuance of a short order for the appeal has been requested for this evening.
