Furthermore, a westerly wave is also anticipated to move into these areas by the 23rd of August, according to forecasts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Pakistan Braces for Another Monsoon Spell
Due to the influence of these weather systems, it is anticipated that there will be occurrences of rain and wind-thundershowers (accompanied by a few instances of moderate to heavy rainfall) in Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, and Bhimber, as well as Mirpur.
Additionally, regions such as Gilgit Baltistan encompassing Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar, along with Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera are likely to experience similar weather conditions from the 23rd to the 27th of August, occasionally with breaks in between.
There’s a forecast for Monsoon Spell and wind-thundershowers in Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, and Bhakkar from August 24th to 26th, with occasional breaks.
Meanwhile, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Zhob, Kalat, and Khuzdar are expected to experience these conditions on August 25th and 26th.
There could be an escalation in water flows within local Nullahs/streams in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Galliyat, Murree, and Rawalpindi/Islamabad from the 23rd to 25th of August due to moderate to heavy falls.
On the 25th and 26th of August, hill torrents could occur in the Dera Ghazi Khan region and nearby parts of northeast Balochistan.
From the 23rd to 26th of August, moderate to heavy Monsoon Spell might lead to urban flooding in low-lying sections of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Lahore.
Additionally, these rains could instigate landslides in susceptible areas such as Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this damp period.

During the wet period from August 23rd to 27th, dam operators should appropriately handle reservoir levels. The ongoing hot and extremely humid conditions are likely to decrease during this period.
