ML-1 Project Progress
ML-1 Project Progress: Pakistan and China have reached a mutual understanding to accelerate progress on the execution of the ML-1 Project Progress initiative in accordance with the consensus of the leadership.
Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, conducted an official discussion with Zheng Shanjie, the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China, at the NDRC main office in Beijing earlier today.
Reflecting on the initiation of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (PCEC) ten years ago, the minister highlighted that the advancement of PCEC has been an impressive journey. He acknowledged that starting from 2013, the relevant organizations from both nations had collaborated as a unified team and effectively executed significant energy and physical infrastructure projects, establishing a solid basis for the subsequent phase of PCEC.
The Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated that China and Pakistan are close allies and partners. Despite the fluctuations in global politics, the two countries have consistently stood together and provided unwavering support to one another.
Both parties agreed to expedite progress on the implementation of the ML-1 Project Progress in accordance with the leadership’s consensus and launch it as soon as possible. In response to the planning minister’s suggestion, Zheng offered to share Chinese expertise and knowledge to enhance Pakistan’s export earnings and accelerate the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
