Speaking with Indian reporter Vikrant Gupta at an event, Mohammad Shami shared, “I take pride in being a Muslim and an Indian. If I wish to perform Sajdah (a Muslim prayer gesture), no one should prevent me.”
Shami mentioned that he has never bowed after taking 5 wickets in his career, as he had achieved this milestone before.
The fast bowler expressed, “If I desire to prostrate, why is there an issue? If I must seek permission to perform Sajdah, then why should I remain in this country?”
He asserted that if he wishes to perform Sajdah, he can do so anywhere in India.
