The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) reported a 0.14 % decline in weekly inflation for all consumption groups in the week ending January 25, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Weekly Inflation in Pakistan:
The SPI stood at 318.55 points for the period, down from 319.00 points last week. Compared to the same week last year, the SPI for the combined consumption group increased by 43.79%.
Based on the weekly SPI for the twenty year 2015-16, covering 17 urban centers and 51 essential items across all expenditure groups, the SPI for the lowest consumption group (up to Rs 17,732) declined by 0.33%. , which rose to 313.09 points against last week’s 314.12 points.

Of the 51 commodities surveyed during the week, 15 commodities (29.41 percent) increased in price, 13 commodities (25.49 percent) decreased in price and 23 commodities (45.10 percent) remained stable.
Prices of commodities such as onion, potato, tomato, garlic, tea packets, banana, dal, gram, and mustard oil were recorded weekly.

During the same period, cooked daal, gur, and chicken witnessed price increases, whereas energy saver, tea prepared, and pulse moong saw a rise in average prices.
On a year-on-year basis, prices of commodities like onion, banana, vegetable, ghee, and mustard oil have come down.
